The Fusion Forum User's Conference and Training Workshop is my favorite event. This is our fourth biennial User's Conference and I truly enjoyed the opportunity to meet our end users and watch them interact with each other. This event allows our end users and potential customers to come together for training and networking. This year Dolbey held the 2010 Fusion Forum in conjunction with AHIMA to assist those hospitals whose travel budgets have been constricted by allowing them the opportunity to attend two conferences while only having to pay the travel expenses of one.
Our user conference was kicked off with dinner followed by presentations by Richard Hostetler from Nuance and Kozie Phibbs from Digital Voice Systems. Richard gave an industry review and update on Speech Recognition. He discussed the future of Speech Recognition and explained the ways that it is reshaping the role of medical transcriptionists. Kozie provided an insightful look at the impending move to ICD-10. She discussed some critical intelligence on the outlook of ICD-10, how it will change documentation and coding processes, along with how the new technology computer-assisted coding can fill some of the gaps.
The next day was packed with breakout sessions, topics included: Implementing Computer-Assisted Coding, Dictation Efficiency & Integration, Fusion Expert for Radiology, Fusion Text Integrations, Voice2Text and Document Management Services/Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, Workflow and Coding Automation with CAC, Fusion Voice Advanced Management Reporting and Tweaks to Meet HITECH Compliance, Getting the most out of Fusion Expert (Integration with HIT and Clario) New Features, Fusion Text: Integrated Quality Assurance Module, Fusion Expert: It is Not Just for Radiology!, Fusion Text: Building a Custom Management Report - step by step, How does your Speech Program grow?, and Fusion Voice: Job Management and Implementing Transcription Q/A Tools.
The day's sessions concluded and everyone began to get ready for dinner and casino night. At casino night each of the users received a bag of casino chips containing $2,000 dollars (sorry, not real money), the users gambled all night and at the end they turned the chips in for tickets for the chinese auction. There were many great gifts including gift cards, web cams, a GPS, a watch, and Coach purses.
In closing I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the 2010 Fusion Forum a success. Plans are already in the works for 2012, hope to see you there!
